How to Choose the Right TV Wall Mount
Choosing wrong wall mount drops your TV. In Nairobi apartments in Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Westlands with gypsum walls, proper mount selection is critical. Best Television Repair Nairobi does 30+ mountings weekly.
Types of Mounts
1. Fixed – flush to wall, cheapest, best for eye-level viewing, no tilt. Good for bedrooms. 2. Tilt – tilts 15 degrees down, reduces glare from windows, ideal above fireplace. 3. Full-motion / articulating – extends 400-600mm, swivels 180 degrees, best for corners, L-shaped living rooms in Lavington, Karen. 4. Ceiling mount – for shops, restaurants in CBD, Upper Hill.
How to Choose Size
Check VESA pattern: measure 4 holes behind TV. Common: 200x200 for 32-43 inch, 400x400 for 55-65, 600x400 for 75-86. Also check weight: 32 inch ~8kg, 55 ~15kg, 65 ~25kg, 75 ~35kg, 85 ~50kg. Mount must support 1.5x weight. For concrete walls in South B, South C, we use 10mm wedge anchors. For gypsum / drywall, must find studs with stud finder or use butterfly anchors rated 50kg each, minimum 4 points. Never mount heavy TV only on gypsum without studs.
Height Guidelines
Eye level when seated: center of TV 100-110cm from floor. For bedroom, slightly higher. Distance: 32 inch – 1.5m, 55 inch – 2.2m, 65 inch – 2.8m, 75 inch – 3.2m. Use formula: viewing distance = 1.6x diagonal for 4K.
Cable Management in Nairobi Homes
We do concealed conduit, brush plates, trunking painted same as wall. For rentals, use adhesive trunking no drilling. For power, we install socket behind TV to avoid hanging cables. For DStv, Showmax, we route HDMI, antenna, Ethernet in one trunk.
